A few years have passed since my last blog post, and I feel like my life has been a roller coaster ride ever since, but the puzzle pieces are coming together quite nicely. My last post was talking about 562Motors.com, a business I started in LA to purchase vehicles in accidents and resell them. In 2013 we sold 11 cars in total, and I also sold some cars for other sellers.
I since decided to to attend West Virginia University. The one question everyone asks, “Why are you here if you’re from Cali?” I always tell them it was because my dad went here…but I know that wasn’t the real reason, these are some better reasons why…
- If I could do what car dealerships do at 19 years old, there was absolutely no way I could allow myself to stay in LA and settle with $2,000 a month in profits for a business…must I say, FOR DOING NOTHING. It took me around 3 months to come up with an effective system that worked.
- Community College SUCKS, and I felt like it didn’t provide anything more for me and my goals besides basic education.
- LA is great, but I wanted to see what it’s truly like to live somewhere besides home.
- I wanted to see how I could leverage the college system to gain connections and use the ecosystem of the school to better myself or my businesses.
Let’s just say I tried really hard, and almost everything I wanted to happen, happened. As a freshman at WVU, I was always told that the fraternity system was the best way to gain your connections. So I rushed, right away.
That could’ve easily been the best or worst thing I could’ve done. I got a 0.53 GPA in my first semester, my fraternity got shut down for two and a half years, and I felt like everything was just going to go downhill from there. I picked it back up the following semester and continued with the on-campus entrepreneurship club, reviving TechWorld, and simply enjoying the college life.
Summer came and went, but I decided to stay on the grind and be productive in LA. I enrolled in Real Estate classes with 6 friends, completed the classes portion of it and also completed NFTE’s Startup Summer in July- a month long business accelerator to help you launch your business. Although I did work for TechWorld, this is where my next idea was originated. Crimple – Crashes Made Simple, I’ll have another post on that pretty soon. Meanwhile, follow the Twitter and IG for updates. Twitter – @CrashMadeSimple IG – @CrashesMadeSimple
The beginning of this year I decided to fully launch TechWorld on campus to see what I could do to grow the business and simply learn as I go. With Google alone – 0 other advertising, we managed to bring in over $5,500 in sales in 2 months with a large majority of that being profits. I’m glad to say the system I created with help of my right hand man and GM Logan Curry, we’re well on our way to creating some marketing campaigns and finding ways to grow the business locally.
